The history of Nové Strašecí is connected with history of Křivoklát estate. The first writen report comes from the year 1334, when the village of Nové Strašcí was pledged to Menharta of Olbramovice. In 1340 was the town of Strašecí attached to the castle of Křivoklát. Later on the town turned to Hussites. During the reign of the king Jiří of Poděbrady the town was plunedrered by the royal troops for it´s support of Jindřich of Kolovrat, who was opponent of the king. The Majesty of king Vladislav Jagellonský from the year 1480 states that the town should be held by the Czech king and that received seal with sign (the bust of the king, on the left side is rearing Czech lion and the letter W).
After 1848 tax and judical district with relevant authorities was established in the town. In 1891 was established continuation school and in 1897 was completed construction of a building for primary school.
The trade and crafts was developing. The new printing works manufacture was created. The factory for the production of starch was later converted to the manufacture of wooden goods, which had a long tradition in the village Pecínov.
After World War I. the new construction development begun. In addition to the new residential areas is built the building of County economic union and District house. The cultural activities are developed by adult education clubs, museum and library.
Among important buildings in the town belongs Town Hall on the main square and originally a Gothic church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. In the eastern part of the town is situated Chapel of Saint Isidor from the year 1715, now used as a cemetery chapel. By restoration and reconstruction of the original Jewish synagogue was created Hus choir (prayer place of Czechoslovak Hussite Church). Interesting is also building of the windmill from 1832 (now a residential building).
